Description
Created a site from the ground up to display animal and plant observations for Montana. There are public and secured versions of the site that display different levels of detail. This site allows people to enter their own observations to add to the database. There are currently over half a million observation records that can be displayed.
This is a highly modern mapping site, utilizing ASP.NET and C# along with heavy AJAX programming to enable the map to act like a full windows application.
Photosets also available that can be georeferenced directly on the map. The first available photoset is of Amphibian Research Sites that the staff biologists created when doing their field work.
This is the flagship application for the Natural Heritage Program and they are getting great feedback from the public and other agency users. This application has allowed NHP to retire several old web sites that were getting very long-in-the-tooth.
